Hey, guys, thank you for listening in to the profitable practice podcast. I am, of course, your host, Andrea Maxim. And what we’re going to talk about is something you need to be very acutely aware of for the next, what my mentor said, is one to two years. And you’ve probably been noticing this already in your practice. And it doesn’t really matter when you listen to this episode, you will still be noticing this in your business, whether online or offline, whether you are a nutritionist, or a naturopath, or whatever health service you are providing, the triggers are real. And as soon as I say that I’m sure you are nodding your head, because you can think of at least a handful of examples where people have just not acted in a way that is normal that you are used to. And you just don’t know what’s going on. So we have definitely been experiencing that if you listen to my past episode on the craziness that went on in September, definitely go listen to that. That was podcast 207, the most tested I have ever been in business. Listen to that, and then come back with me here that you are not intertwined. But you can definitely see where the trend is going.
We have noticed the most pressure we have noticed the most bounce back or what’s the word that I’m looking for, where we will put something out there and immediately, we’re getting reasons why it’s not going to work, or we will explain the investment it is to be in our gap Protocol, or to pay for a lab test in many different ways. And facets, and people are still triggered and shocked by the level of investment or in some cases, they’re going directly to the board and trying to get their way. So, we’re going to break all of this down today. Okay. So, I went away to California for a week, first time back on a plane since the pandemic started back in March of 2019. And oh my god, I probably spent more on COVID test to be able to fly places than I did on the flight itself. Just out of sheer, I am not NOT getting on this plane, like I don’t care if I’m overspending for these tests, I am getting on this plane and I am getting out of here.
So, during that event, it was a very much about your dharma, about your deeper purpose about how you should be showing up in this world and keeping that vision for what you want for your life in the forefront so that, you know you’re using it as leverage for everything that you want out of your business and why we’re doing what we’re doing and all of these things. So, it was very much all about the energy work. And so, at the very beginning, on the very first day, we were kind of stepping into this place of energy of what we need to be putting out to the world and based on what I’ve been experiencing through the month of September. I brought up the discussion of- Could you and I was talking to my mentor who was leading the whole thing I said- Could you please discuss what’s going on in the universe right now? Because for the past eight weeks, we have never had so many people attack us fight us against what we were trying to offer. We’ve never had so many people go to the board as I like, I’ve been in practice for 10 years.
And we had a board complaint which I talked about in episode 207. And specifically, 208, dealing with a criminal complaint. We had another person literally not get the answer that she wanted, and then call our board and find out what the actual answer was.
So, people are not themselves right now. And so, I said, could you please talk about how we show up in messaging and marketing, when we are getting more trolls when we are getting more people attacking us on social media than ever before, let alone when they’re actually working with us. And so, this is something that I wanted to bring to you just so you know, in the forefront as to what’s going on. And then I’ll talk about the strategies that our team are taking and have taken to really bring on an extra layer of transparency and clarity. So, my mentor, Brandon, he works with a shaman and the shaman had downloaded to Brandon so that Brandon could share with us what is going on. So, the analogy is, and I’m sure if you’ve ever listened to James Wedmore, his podcast, he says the same thing. The analogy is every person is like an orange.
So, when you squeeze an orange, what do you expect to come out? It’s the juice, right? It’s the orange juice. So, when you squeeze a human, what do you expect to come out for those people that are already in a negative space, a worried space and anxious space, and you squeeze them more what’s going to come out of them, more anxiety, more negativity, more anger, more triggers. And if you are already in a space where you like, internally, you are grounded, and feeling aligned, and you’re in this abundant mindset and the universe squeezes you, well, what’s going to come out of you more abundance, more happiness, more joy, more alignment.
So whatever state the person is in, when we squeeze them, that is what’s going to come out. So, we have to be very respectful of what people have been going through for the past two years. We have never experienced this in this century. So, this is new for everyone. We have never felt so out of control of our own personal lives, we’ve never felt more under the government’s thumb than we have in the past two years, and it is going to be unrelenting. And so the people that were already feeling triggered and pressured going into this, now that it’s two years of this “abuse” from our environment, from the higher powers that kind of rule the world when we start to ask them to make changes, to invest in their health, to snap out of their bad habits or bad patterns, if they aren’t ready for that change, and we squeezed them even more, and it’s usually in the financial sector, that people really start to feel the trigger. That’s what we are going to get.
So, I remember a couple months back, I went into Shopper’s Drug Mart, we were really selling our wellness kits. So, I was going to the post office in the store, often and every single time I came, I witnessed people literally lashing out on the cashier, like the cashier is literally the last person you need to be lashing out on all they’re trying to do is take your money. So, if you can take your stuff and get out of the store, like it is the fastest transaction. But every time I went in there, I witnessed somebody just lashing out on them for no good reason and your rational anger, like dropping an entire bag of milk all over their counter because the milk smelled bad. You know, like, or one person didn’t get her – She wasn’t put through the check. Check out fast enough. So, she just went off on the cashier about whatever her rant was. So, the cashiers are getting it. People on phone calls are getting it for just very innocent things like a check in like the gym calls and says, hey, we haven’t seen you in a while. Well, they’re getting an earful. So, it makes sense that when we’re asking people to literally change themselves, we are going to get it the hardest and the worst.
So, my mentor said – think about that like when people are being triggered and they’re being squeezed, whatever was in them when they’re being squeezed is now going to come out. So, we have to be very, very mindful of that with everything. single human interaction that we have. With regards to our messaging with regards to our marketing, I certainly witnessed this with our teacher ended the year insurance ads, I ran the exact same ad that I have for five years. And it has crushed, crushed, crushed crushed this year, it was an absolute flop. And it was that for a lot of our students that were running the same ads as well. And the comments were so triggered by the same language that I had been using forever, when I realized the error that I made, and came at them with a new ad, that was a lot more compassionate, a lot more understanding a lot more about, you know, I know how hard things have been for you. And we want to make it better for you, we want you to start your school year off on the right foot, suddenly, the energy changed, and we started attracting more new patients.
So, the messaging, the marketing, the place that we are coming at with our patients or clients has to be more compassionate than it has ever been. We have to show up with more empathy, with more transparency with more clarity than you have had to do in the past. And so based on what we were experiencing, we have now created better onboarding emails before they even show up, we are creating more videos and more access points for people to reach out. The best thing that we created was an entire FAQ page, which you can go look at on themaximmovement.com, where we literally answered every single question that was coming up for us. And then every time we got that bounced back, it was always a lesson for us to be more transparent, for us to be more understanding for us to learn our rules and regulations better so that one individual wanted to get her lab test results without a visit. And I was under the understanding that we are fully responsible for those labs and can’t just give out results without having a follow up. That was my error in knowledge. I called the board. And I said, Hey, this is what I thought was right. And they said no, patients have right to access their health information whenever they want to, if they choose to have a follow up with you, it’s their choice. So, I was like, okay, cool, I learned something, I’m so fine with that let the team know, awesome. It was literally an innocent error on my part, in the benefit of keeping the patient as well informed as we could. So, it wasn’t coming out of malice or trying to squeeze money out of this person, but this person was not having it.
So, as you are feeling these triggers coming in, as you are noticing these changes in your patients or clients, this is a beautiful opportunity for you to also reflect on how can I show up better? How can I make my systems and processes better? How can I be more transparent to these people. And sometimes it’s just in language. So when you are offering a new treatment option, when you are offering a level of investment, what we’re training our team to do is say okay, I have explained now, three new habits, I would love for you to repeat back to me what you heard, even though you’ve said it five times, even though it’s written down on their piece of paper, we cannot be making assumptions that people are listening because, again, if someone is coming in in an anxious ungrounded triggered state, they’re in fight or flight, which means they are not computing or comprehending half of the things that you’re saying, or you told them one thing, and that was overwhelming enough that the other two items they did not even hear or process. So, it’s really important for you to make that space in your interactions with people saying, this is what I explained. These are the habits that I want you to change. Please repeat back to me what you heard and get them in their own words to reconfirm it. Or it may come to the point where you have to like to take a pause. And if you’re getting a lot of bounce back one of my team members and of course there’s a lot of energy work and alignment work that has to go into this as well. Because if you are being triggered, you are going to attract triggered people. You may need to take a pause mid-session and say look, this is what I’ve mentioned to you a few times that this is the approach I’d like to take and every time I’m mentioning something, you’re immediately giving me reasons why you can’t do it.
So here you know we have one of two ways that we can approach this one you can allow me to snap you out of these patterns that you are stuck in which is what prompted you to book the visit to begin with or this just may not be the right time for you to be coming in and working with me, I strongly recommend you go, like well cancel the visit. And I’ll give you 50% of your money back or you just charged 50% or whatever. And say, I would love to reconnect with you in six months to 12 months.
When you put yourself into that place of again, authority, of acknowledging like putting it back on them mirroring them, what it is that they’re doing, saying, I totally recognize the patterns, I totally recognize the anxiety, I totally recognize the state that you’re in right now. And then offering them one of two paths, it’s either going to wake them out of it and snap them out of it, which means they are now just like, Damn, she’s right, I need to like stop this, this negative cycle that I’m in and really lean into the process, which then they’re yours forever, because you’re the first person to really knock them out of that cycle. Or they’re going to be shocked that you’re not going to treat them, they’re going to go home, and then it’s going to simmer and they’re going to be like damn, like that person is my person, like she or he called me out on this, I really need to work on some stuff, and then I’m going to come back.
So, you will always get those people back, even though you send them away, because you’re doing it out of a place of healing and respect and impact. It is the impact. But sometimes you just can’t force it, you can’t make it happen, you can’t feel obligated that because they’re in that visit with you that you have to miraculously change or transform them. Oftentimes, they have a lot of work that they still need to do. And you just aren’t part of that, that first step. And then when they’re at the second step, then of course you can come in.
So, think about how you’re interacting with your people think about how you can make the education on what it is that they need to do more easy and effortless for that person to comprehend. Maybe you have smaller visits and more frequent, because they can only literally take in one item at a time. And be very gracious, but also be very respectful of your time and your authority and don’t back down and don’t demean what you have to offer, it’s still your job to offer them everything, but in a very compassionate, very understanding way, but still with authority. So again, if everyone is in this scarcity mindset, and again, check your energy. But if your people are coming in with a scarcity mindset, and they’re being very financially triggered, it’s still your job to explain all of the options, and also make it very clear, you know, this is what the investment is, this is what I know is going to give you the best results. If you choose not to do that, that is so fine. But it is my job to show you what I would strongly recommend for you. And it’s up to you to determine if this is worth the investment or not. And I will literally have this verbal exchange with people like I will put it on the spot and I will not cave to any sort of like, oh, well, I can’t afford that. Or oh, that’s really expensive. You know, they’ll usually be like, Oh my god, I can’t believe how expensive it is. I’m like, yeah, that is the investment for the test. Do you want to do it or not? Like I am very apathetic to the financial conversation. But I’m very empathetic for the transformation for how I can get their health back on track, we just have to change our language as practitioners, we just have to show up, way more grounded way more in alignment and way more compassionate than ever. And this is something you’re going to have to do for the next one to two years.
So, I wanted to just do a quick energy check with you make sure that you are also not the orange that is feeling triggered, anxious squeezed in a negative way. Make sure that you do that energy work because that is going to be vitally important for you to show up in a very healing, impactful aligned state for your people. Because sometimes even just having someone in front of them is where the transformation starts.
Be very mindful about your marketing and your messaging. Don’t lean into pain points as an aggression, lean into more of the positive transformation, people are going to need that more than ever, and find ways of making your systems and processes a lot more transparent and a lot more accessible.

So, it’s never, it is not a bad thing for you to also make sure that they are showing up with full integrity and responsibility or it’s just a timing issue. And that is also okay.
