Ready To Finally Create The Practice Of Your Dreams?
Hello Everyone! Welcome to another episode of The Profitable Practice Podcast. I am of course your host with the most; Dr. Andrea Maxim. I have just come back from a phenomenal weekend seminar ‘The Archangel Summit’ in Toronto and I was just so fully inspired by what I had learned that I really wanted to share some of the strategy and the things that I immediately implemented into my business with you guys. So this is not scripted by any means bear with me as I go through some of these big key points. I am probably going to do this over smaller chunks in several episodes so that it is very focused and you know what exactly you need to do to implement things after every single episode. So the first one is really going to be about the Big Habits that high performers have and I am collecting this not only from Brendon Burchard but Mark Hyman, J.J. Virgin, Dave Asprey was there of Bulletproof Coffee, and all of the speakers that I was able to witness on the Friday and Saturday of this event. So, before we jump into that I want to invite you to my free Master Class if you go to www.maximizedbusiness.ca/program-webinar, you can join my free Master Class on how you can triple the longevity and the life span of the patients and clients that you currently have by creating your first or your best signature program. In that Master Class, we go over Pricing, Structure, and how to implement and promote it. So definitely go to my website and watch that Master Class when you get a chance to.
First, We are going to go over The top performance hacks that I learned from this Archangel Summit. I’m going to go to the first ones that Brendon Burchard came on and he has a new book out called; The High-Performance Habits, I’m going to go over those habits first but then I’m going to tell you what I collectively started hearing from all of the other speakers as well. This one is kind of big and literally like the Sunday, the very next day I started implementing this right into my life and I cannot tell you how such a small change with such a big difference on how I started my day and how I have been acting in my day. That was within the first hour of waking you want to basically keep your phone on Airplane Mode or at least do not check your Email or any Social Media Platforms and the reason is; An Email is everybody else dictating to you how you should be using your time, and isn’t that so true as soon as you open an Email is it somebody asking you to do something, or “Can I reschedule”, “Can I pick up”, “Can you do this” there’s no Email saying like “Go get them today” or “I have faith in you” or “Be Productive”. That was very eye-opening to me because I personally have become a massive slave to my Emails and that was like what I was living for from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed, I was constantly at everybody else’s back in call. Lately, I have been really kind of stuck, my momentum has not been moving forward, and we are going to be talking about momentum in the next episode. And why is that important to us as evolutionary hunters, Stay tuned to the next episode to find out what that means, but it was really starting to become an issue around, I was constantly at everybody else’s back incall and I’m just not getting what I wanted to get done, I’m not being productive and focused because I’m always distracted. So do not check your Email in the first hour of waking.
What I loved from Dave Asprey is he said “I don’t even turn my phone off or Airplane Mode until my kids are dropped off at school.” Which now, Arya, My eldest just went to school for the very first week, last week so I totally understand what’s that like now. We have to get her completely focused, changed, refocused, eating, refocused, out of the house, and off to the bus stop before the bus leaves, and then Brooklyn is now in full-time daycare so I got my Thursdays and Fridays “all to myself”. So we have to get those kids off and even just by keeping my phone off or at least not wasting 45 minutes on scrolling through Social Media, I am now more present with my kids in the morning and more focused on them and what they need to get done instead of multitasking and always feeling like I’m catching up already within the first 2 hours of waking up. The other reason why Social Media such a bad idea to be checked right away is because you’re immediately comparing yourself to anybody else and what kind of a mind-frame is that going to put you in when you see “Look what my colleague is doing”, “Look at these pictures”, “Look what that person has” you’re automatically putting yourself right into the hands of just comparisonitis and it’s not putting you into that focused, productive, positive state. So No Email, No Social Media within the first hour of waking and it is a game-changer. What I do now is; I’m selling my alarm for 6 AM to an hour earlier to what I would normally do and I don’t necessarily have plans sometimes right before bed I will put in my reminders app and tell Siri and I do that right before going to bed so those are my first ticket action items that I do when I wake up. And then there are other days that I have no idea what I’m going to do in the morning but the point is, I promise myself that I would be committed to waking up an hour earlier and at least just opening my laptop and it is amazing how just opening your laptop and picking one web browser to open, whether it be and landing page an Email software, your website, you just start taking action and all of a sudden an hour goes by. And what a feeling of accomplishment that creates by actually getting things done that were on your to-do list instead of constantly scrambling to fit it back in. So that is a really big one and I personally love this one and it is so easy that literally after this episode you can start doing this and by single-handedly blocking off those first 60 minutes in your day you will increase your productivity by 30% like that is a significant increase in how the rest of your days is going to go. So you want to make sure that that is a big one that you do.
Another big habit that Brendon had talked about is “Seeking Clarity” and of course the more clear everything becomes the easier everything becomes. Now, by clarity, I know in my mind I am constantly like running through my to-do list in a rapid state. And because of that, I am essentially getting nothing done. So, I would just want to tackle one item on my to-do list today. For Me, today is to bust out a bunch of episodes of Podcasts back-to-back. For you, it could be creating sequential Emails on your Email list to send out for this month it could also be planning a flash sale and how you’re going to go around selling a bunch of supplements to clear your shelves, or what could I put on promotion, or maybe it’s finally getting all of those charts taken care of that you’ve been putting off. So by a simple way of looking at clarity is by getting very clear on what you wanna be focused on today.
Another level of clarity would be being very clear about how your business is running. We had Brad Marno come in on Friday, and he is from sixth division and he’s all about marketing funnels and automation of your business. The biggest part of his presentation was really figuring out linearly how your leads are going through with your business. When they opt-in what is the next step after that? Then if you have another level of your business; what is the initial step, what is step two, three, four, and being very clear about how things are working in your business and what the ideal flow could be. And the clearer you are about how your business is structured and the funnel of your business, you’re plugging up a lot of those holes. When you plug up the holes it means you’re not losing revenue, you’re not losing potential patients or clients, and you’re not also wasting time trying to backpedal what you are missing. So being very clear on where you are spending your time because a lot of the people that I am talking to are very busy throughout the day, and I can definitely waste an entire day being very busy, but we are not being clear about being productive in doing the projects in our business that matters the most. The ones that are going to have an immediate effect on our bottom line, so you have to be very clear about where you are spending your time as well. The best part is you only have to be spending 60% of your week on the big items that matter the most and 40% on everything else. So it is not like you’d be doing that 80%, 20% rule, it is just the big, high performing people spend 60% of their time every week on those action items that matter the most in their business and have the biggest effect on their bottom line. Another habit was generating energy and this is the quote that he loves to say “A Power Plant doesn’t have energy, it generates it. So us being the Power Plant, we are not just manifesting energy because we are having abundant energy because we exist. As humans, we have to generate that energy.” And a big topic that came from talking to Mark, J.J, and Dave all on the stage at once was around Biohacking and nutrition, how important it is to start your day and pretty much all of them agreed on this. Start your day with like a Bulletproof Coffee. So intermittent fasting in the morning is a beautiful way to start your day. At lunchtime have a high-fat nutritious meal that is full of super greens, healthy oils, avocado, colorful foods, with a little bit of protein and then by dinner time again maximizes the colorful foods with vegetables and then aside from meat. The coolest thing that Dave said was, if you are hungry every two hours, you have massively screwed up your last meal. You should be eating meals that will sustain you for 4 to 6 hours without even thinking about it. And you know what I mean when you have a beautiful, nutrient-dense meal. When you go through a long period of time without eating or you are just snacking on high carb and sugary foods, you will be constantly hungry. So that is a beautiful way to really reflect on how you are generating energy to sustain your body. And a really amazing speaker that I was introduced to is Alex Charfen, and he is all about hyperhydration, so even that first 60 minutes of waking, power back with a liter of water and try to get about 4 to 6 liters of water throughout the rest of the day. So basically have water at your disposal all over the place so you’re constantly feeling that thirst need because water is a very subtle signal in the body. Even if you just think about water, you should be drinking it. It is that subtle signal that we can just easily dismiss it, but it is very important with regards to energizing the system and helping clean out the system. Another thing Dave said, “I will not put anything into my body that doesn’t charge me.” If you know dairy and wheat, there is no reason to be putting it to your body if it is going to slow you down and not make you productive. And I had that slap in my face, yesterday I had two coaching client calls in the morning, a full day of patients in the afternoon, and I had enough time to record this Podcast.
But because we were starving, so I said: “Just order pizza”. I was so noxious, so sick the day after. That I had to cancel those coaching calls, I was in bed for 4 hours. I brought myself to the clinic with my first visit. I had to excuse myself through to basically purge everything out of my stomach from the night before. Now, I’m making up for the rest of the day when I could have done other things to advance my business. The other cool thing about generating energy that Brendon mentioned was; it is really important for you to be recharging every single hour and all of the high performers will set time for about 50 minutes, they’ll be focused on tasks doing everything that is needed to get done, they won’t get distracted, and when the alarm goes off, they have the time to stretch, move, go to the bathroom, drink more water, to check Emails. And after the 5-minute buzzer goes off, back to work for another 50 to 55 minutes. It is not productive to have 1 to 2-hour marathons of work, where you are just sitting there and pumping things out, it is actually better to be taking smaller breaks. That’s a beautiful way to bring on energy.
Another Habit was to develop influence, so if you want to be an influential leader and really show people how amazing you are in creating authority for yourself, you really have to do three of the following things, and this is what other people are influenced by, these people in our lives would be influential, they teach you how to think, we do not want somebody just giving us content. We want somebody to teach us how to rethink, how to reevaluate our world. These people are also the ones that challenge you; they’re going to push you where you won’t be comfortable. Because you start evolving differently as a human being, the influential people are also the role model of the way, so if you want to be an influential person to your tribe, how have to show the way what you want these people to do. Probably, the worst thing that you can do is like, “I did this once so I could teach a whole bunch of people how to do it”, but if you can role model that, “I’ve done this several times” and also helping people the same thing, you are now role modeling the way in which these people that are following you want to be. So again, in order to develop influence you want to teach people how to think, you want to challenge them, and you want to role model the way so they would just follow you and be like you and be in your tribe.
Finally, a really important habit that high performers have is they always demonstrate courage, and this is a big topic we can have about waking up and just saying; “How can I serve my community today?” and that day that I told you where I was sick, I was still at work, I still hustled for 8 hours, I had to take a nap because I was feeling so awful, but I had a Webinar book, I was thinking that maybe I had to cancel my day and rebook those patients, but it was not fair they have possibly rescheduled their day to see me, I have to find a way to serve them. Also, when it came to the Webinar, maybe I can send only a recording to them, maybe cancel and rebook another day, but I know that people were really looking forward to that content, and even if just one person shows up. By courage, it is also getting out of your own way, being vulnerable, being authentic, and always showing up to serve your tribe or community. And you also want to be advocating for other people and be courageous in defending as well. So you want to be speaking up for them, if someone is being bullied or harassed, you should be the one standing up for that individual. You should also speak up for yourself and be very strong with conviction, keep your opinions and beliefs as long as you can, even if people will be down on you, all of the high performers do not even care about the negative comments. In fact, sometimes, it can show you that you are on the right track. But you should never be afraid to speak up for yourself and your whole truth and everything you believe in because that is who you are. All of the high performers have these habits.
So I want to recap what those Habits are, First; Do not turn your phone on unless you’re doing productivity apps on it for the first 60 minutes of waking, during that time drink a liter of water to really help flush your system from your night’s detoxing and healing, the other thing is you want to be seeking clarity, we want to be very clear on what it is we will be doing on a day to day basis. We want to do as much as generating much energy as we come throughout the day, through nourishment, exercise, getting up every 50 to 55 minutes and taking a break, we want to develop influence, and we want to be those people that our tribe is looking up to. We want to be those people that are setting up the stage that is making ways that are standing out. Finally, we want to wake up and ready to serve regardless of how we are feeling inside and always demonstrate courage by being a strong advocate to our beliefs and teachings, and also standing up for other people.
